Springin the Blues - March 29, 2009

5 DAYS 'TIL IT ALL COME CRASHIN' DOWN!!!!It's here,finally,3 years of e-mails,5 years of press and hard work,9 years of pain and frustration, and we finally get to play Springing the Blues-the largest free music fest on the East Coast and one of the largeset Blues Festivals in the country.3 days of blues, friends, partying, and general "hangin' out",all at the Beach!!!! What could be better?
Every year at this festival I'm amazed at the ability to just walk up and talk to the performers after their show. They're just wanderin' through the crowd, makin' new friends, listenin' to great music, and havin' fun like everybody else. They have performance clinics, all kinds of great food, blues gigs after the festival all 3 nights-so much to do,so little time.
If you haven't made plans, just do it!!! go to www.springingtheblues.com and check out the line-up,activities,and schedule. They have hotel links and info on all of the artists appearing this year. So,make your plans to ride down 95 to Jacksonville Beach for Springing the Blues,April 3rd-5th(next weekend),and I hope to see you there!!!

Springin the Blues 4/3-4/5 - March 28, 2009

Hello, everybody.Just wanted to pass the word about a great festival coming up.Every year,on the first weekend of April,Jacksonville Beach ,Florida comes alive with the sound of the blues.I've been going to this festival since 2000,myself,and it just gets better every year. When you take a big place, like Jacksonville Beach, add an amphitheater, great blues,a few thousand of your best friends, sun, sand, and the word "free" together and you get the largest ,free, outdoor festival on the East Coast, and one of the largest Blues festivals in the country!!!!
This year,2009,marks the first ever appearance of Tommy Thunderfoot and the Accelerators at this festival.Half the band has been going the last 3 years just to watch, but now....we ....get....to ....PLAY!!!!!!!
All of our gigs ,all year long, have a handful of blues lovers mixed in with lost souls, party animals, newly divorced hopefuls, and just plain crazy people(and we love them all),but, this festival promises one thing-thousands of blues lovers in one place for 3 whole days.
We are very privileged to be given the opportunity to play this year. With any luck,it will be the first of many to come, but we're not gettin' ahead of ourselves, yet.I have been in love with this music for 20 years, playing it for the last 12,and hoping to play even longer. Thanks to Sam Veal for giving us a chance.
So,if you haven't made plans for April 3rd,4th,&5th ,Springing the Blues @ Jacksonville Beach is a great event and should not be missed. We look forward to seeing some of our friends from Charleston ,there.Since I lived in Jacksonville for 3 years,I'm hoping to see some of my long lost friends,as well. Most are great musicians, the rest are just great people. With all of the changes the band has been through, this is the most alive I've felt on stage in a long time. The line is : Stone Cold Sarah Cole(16) on guitar and vocals,JoJo Wall(100) on bass, harmonica, and vocals,Tanner Cooper(14) on drums, and of course, little ol' me on guitar and vocals. We have brand new stuff, lotsa old stuff with a new spin, and we can't wait for ya all to hear it.
So,come to Jacksonville and have some fun!!!

Even more changes - January 20, 2009

As the last year has brought many changes, the band is taking some time to organize the take over of the world. The shows we play will be bigger, better, more intense, and just all around more fun than ever before.Because we tend to pack it all into 2 1/2 sets,we are spacing the shows out.We don't want to cause any permanent damage to our friends,or ourselves, with all of this ....stuff.
That being said, hold on to the handle, keep your feet and legs inside the vehicle at all times, and don't even think about gettin' off the ride 'til it comes to a complete stop, which won't be any time soon. All of the right players are in place, now we need all the right venues to make all the right moves.Stay tuned, come back often, and we'll see you out there-
Thanks for listening,

momma Fest 2008 - November 16, 2008

10 years ago an amazing thing happened in Charleston-that's right 10
years ago-the opening of Momma's Blues Palace.
The joint was jumpin'
every weekend and lotsa people got their education in the blues in
that room.
You never knew who would show up to jam there-Juke Joint
Johnny,Smoky Weiner,Keith Namm,Pony Tail John,-and those were just the
local legends...Needless to say,it was a great time to be in
Charleston over the next 6 years.
When the club closed,it was an end to
an era, launching the people who played on that stage,as well as the
fans of the club, into the surrounding area trying to keep the music
and vibe of the Palace alive.
Momma and Dupree have entered into a
semi-retired mode, waiting for their chance to pounce on the scene and
breathe new life into a once thriving, art loving city.
With the over
abundance of cover bands ,dj's,and karaoke ,there's no time like
now. It seems if you're not playing what the juke box is playing, you're
not welcome in the music scene in Charleston. It's official, everybody
is playing guitar hero,nobody's listening!!!!!!!
Flash forward to the present, some venues around town have closed
their doors, others are on the verge of doing the same, cover bands are
a dime a dozen, and creativity has taken a backseat to carbon copy
garage bands. Is there no end to the madness????????
Enter one of the most amazing nights of music you've experienced in
years, happening in a venue with a history including being the only
place to party in town 'til the sun came up,and you have the revival
of art in music-I'm gonna go out on a limb and call this-MOMMA FEST
2008!!!!!!!
Jo-Jo has been pounding away at the music scene
here, growing, changing, writing and building a fan base for years, his
band -the Voodoo Junkie's-do it like it oughta be done.
Being the"
Olympic sized gene pool " that he is,Momma and Dupree couldn't be more
proud of their Legacy, also known as "the 401k plan".
Come see what JoJo
beez cookin' up!!!!!!
TT&A ,what can I say,we have been around,made numerous
changes, written too many songs to play in one night, and plan to hold
up the tent poles for this revival as best we can.
I learned to play by
hangin' around this family and LISTENING!!!! One thing you can bet-WE
AIN'T HOLDIN' NOTHIN' BACK!!!
Momma and Dupree-without them no JoJo,no Tommy Thunderfoot,no
show!!!!!!! these are the two people you wanted to see every weekend
because, even if they played the same song two weeks in a row, they gave
it all they had to make it new and exciting-EVERY SONG,EVERY TIME!!!!!
They taught me the spirit of the jam, true musicianship, and when they
thought I'd learned enough, set me on my own journey.
I'll never be able
to pay them back for what they've given me and helped me achieve .
If
you've heard them,talked to them,visited with them-ever-,then you know
what I mean.

So,you're not just gonna get an amazing show Friday night, you're
gonna see musical evolution-even the highest paid cover band in town
can't give you that-well maybe if they filmed the show, then copied it
later-that would be something,right?
Make your plans, tell your friends and neighbors, and bring your weary
souls to the Oasis, this Friday night for the musical revival you'll
be talkin' about for years to come.
IT'S TIME TO TAKE BACK OUR TOWN
FROM MEDIOCRITY AND MINDLESS BACKGROUND NOISE. WE NEED YOU TO SUPPORT
CREATIVITY IN MUSIC AND LIFE BECAUSE YOU ARE THE WORLD AND WE ARE JUST
THE PAINTERS

Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes - September 10, 2008

So,as of 4:30 p.m.(the time I opened my e-mail),craig Camapany and Jonathan Williams are no longer "the Accelerators".As ever band changes it grows,I've been doing this for many years in many places and all of the musicians I've known have been absolutely perfect. They leave for one reason or another, some giving a warning,some...not so much.In this case, the band was strong and determined with every opportunity at our feet, some of which turned down due to traveling constraint-that is no longer an issue.I wish Craig and Jonathan great success and hope they find what makes them happy-and also to thank them for the great songs which will no doubt result from this"parting of ways".On the other hand,I have never left one musical situation without takin' it up a notch,so time to find the best musician's I've ever known!!!!! Onward and upward and hang on to your seatbelts 'cause this train ain't stoppin'-if you're gonna get off, remember to tuck and roll!!!!
See you guys around and the next gig will definitely be better than the last...
Tommy Thunderfoot

Big Week - July 29, 2008

So,it's here, the most we travel as a band, and it's all gonna be so huge.Friday night we're at Legacies in Sumter for our first show there, ever, and we already have some great friends to hang out with thanks to Bill Hicks and Billy Lane, this should be a show we compare the rest to.There is so much talent in Sumter and we're so lucky to be welcomed by so many good people,if you think you can make the trip, well,c'mon, let's go!!!!Nicki,Francis,Bill,Billy, and all at Legacies-LET'S BURN A BARN!!!!!
Saturday is the Chesterfield Music and Arts festival and we're playing 6-9 and we're gonna give everything we got left to make it something the fine folks of Chesterfield won't soon forget.Love us or hate us,but stand back 'cause this music is HOT,people!!!!!
See ya this weekend and everybody say"YEAH!!!!!!!"
